NEW YORK (CNNMoney)-- There were even more shoppers in the country 's shopping centers and big-box stores on Black Friday than there were last year, according to a report provided Saturday. However retailers still aren't sure that beginning the holiday shopping season on Thanksgiving evening showed successful. ShopperTrak, which measures and evaluates foot traffic at even more than 50,000 retail locations nationwide, states Black Friday store check outs climbed up 3. 5 % from last year to even more than 307. 67 million. However Black Friday retail sales fell 1. 8 % to $ 11. 2 billion, the company said. "While foot traffic did increase on Friday, those Thursday deals attracted some of the spending that's usually meant for Friday," said Bill Martin, ShopperTrak's founder, in a declaration.

Key:
- Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
- The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
- The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).
Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
